Hitoshi Abe - The stairs leading up to the Aoba-Tei restaurant, Sendai City 2004. A curvilinear concrete shell is wrapped in a steel plate, laser cut with perforations abstracting images of the famous line of Zelkova trees on the street below which are lit at night. As one enters the restaurant from the street, the progression from natural to built is blurred as the pattern of lights carries itself in. Read more here.
