Shenzhen 1988-2010
Nice visualization of some ridiculous Chinese hyperurbanization.
The city was founded at the site of a fishing village in 1980 and had a population of 1.7 million in 1990, which exploded to 14 million in 2010.
The population density of the Special Economic Zone stood at 1,292 per square kilometer in 1990, at 3,596 in 2000 and at 17,150 in 2010.
