Hints of a Lawsuit in Beverly Hills over the Westside Subway Extension

Counter points to the obstructionist views expressed in the article:

-The “Big One” will do damage whether this subway is built or not. The proper construction of this subway should not and will not affect the structural integrity of any building.  Subways of even lesser depth built in equally seismic areas like Tokyo are successful case studies.

-Beverly Hills has stonewalled the subway for the last 25 years, much to the detriment of the city of Los Angeles.  Millions of hours wasted, millions of dollars lost, life time lost!  Traffic and pollution rise unacceptable levels… How can these residents in good conscience block this effort when you think about all the good this can do!  Case study: Georgetown foolishly opting out of the DC metro system.

A subway continuously beneath Santa Monica Blvd really does make sense though so if it’s just the route that the residents are objecting to, I can see their point.
