Is it possible to turn something so inherently functional into an object of art?
For the design team Demakersvan, the answer to that question is an unequivocal “yes.” Created by dutch designer Joep Verhoeven as his graduate project for Design Academy Einhoven, Lace Fence is a take-off of the industrial chain-link fences that often surround storage facilities and fields used for sporting events; an object so ubiquitous it tends to disappear unnoticed into the background.
